What is that change? It looks like I will be getting a Facebook picture

As you may remember from my previous post, if enough people sign up for Agloco, I will get a picture on Facebook.

At this time enough have signed up, but thankfully I still get to choose the picture. Don't worry, you still have time, the deadline is not until April 21.

That means before April 21, not on April 21. Midnight (that morning) I will check to see how many people have signed up for Agloco using one of my links. That is the number I will use.

You may know from reading my previous entries, that I do not agree with the results of this election.

Both of the winning candidates broke the rules for campaigning, and they are getting off quite nicely.

Sure, these winners will be required to do some "service to the university," but all that actually means, at least following the official decision of Dr. Byrd, will be to review the Electoral Act. I can provide a good review of that Act right now, including areas where it needs improvement.

Her decision, which you can read by clicking the link above, effectively ends the power of SGA as a student organization. So, thank you Dr. Byrd for killing SGA.

You've been hit by a Smooth Criminal

Bellow is a comment I recently posted on the All State website. Please, read the article that this is in response to here.

Here is my comment:

I firmly disagree with the decision of Dr. Byrd. She has now officially made the SGA a useless entity at Austin Peay.

The decision was made by the Election Board, and then upheld by the Student Tribunal. I feel that her decision has resulted in an administrative take-over of the SGA.

The purpose of the SGA is to speak on behalf of the students. While I do believe that it is important for the students to have their voice heard through the election process, I also believe that it is important for rules to be followed.

All candidates for office were notified of the rules. All candidates were expected to follow these rules. Service to the university is by no means a punishment fitting the crime. These candidates were able to unfairly gain more exposure on campus. This could have had an influence on the 400 students that received a flier at their dorms. Often, when a person votes in an election, if he or she is not familiar with either candidate, that person is likely to vote for the more recognizable name.

It is important to note that it is the duty of the president to respect the rules at Austin Peay. If the president is Huffman, this could be seen as very contradictory.

Finally, I would like to make it clear that I did not write this to support one candidate over another. I wrote this because I believe that it is important for rules to be enforced, and it is even more important for the SGA to be run by the SGA.

I saw this comic earlier this morning. I loved it, because it goes perfectly with my dislike of Richard Jackson, Vice President for Legal Affairs and Strategic Planning at Austin Peay. All that fancy title means is that he is the campus attorney.

Mr. Jackson has been involved in numerous decisions recently, and I feel that he often oversteps his place. I know that he is officially a senior advisor to President Hoppe, but I would like to hear less from him.

Beat It

I have decided to try to make every other entry about myself, and not about a product. This will help keep my blog interesting (hopefully).

Today's entry is titled "Beat It." If you read the entries this past Thursday or even Friday, then you can probably already guess that this entry is about ebay.

Allow me to introduce you to one of my favorite playlists. I have a copy of this playlist on both my computer and my Ipod. The songs are:

Man in the Mirror
Instigator
Soldier
Tusk
Beat It

The title of my playlist: "Bid Wars."

Yes, sad I know, but I do take my bidding on ebay very seriously. This is the playlist I listen to when I make those last second bids. Probably the most pathetic part, each song has a purpose during the last few minutes of bidding on an item. What exactly is the purpose of each song? I'm glad you asked.

First up is "Man in the Mirror." Yes, a Michael Jackson song (sorry if you are tired of me mentioning him, but I still have a few days left on this topic). Personally, I have decided to not concern myself with his personal life, even if he is very strange. More importantly, I believe he is an excellent musician (feel free to argue this in the comments section).

The purpose of "Man in the Mirror" is to set the mood. I use it as an inspirational song when I place late bids on ebay. It has a great beat, and it helps me as I get pumped to bid.

Following this song is "Instigator," by Kaci Brown. As it appears, this is the song I listen to when I place my first bid. As Kaci says "I'm an instigator," I place my bid, to instigate a bid war. Sometimes no one else gets involved, but I still feel like I am instigating something.

The next two songs, "Soldier" by Eminem and "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac, are designed to keep my adrenaline up while I prepare for more bidding. I will not place a bid during either of these songs, but I will watch and refresh the page regularly to check on the current bid.

The reasoning for each of these is very similar. The song, "Soldier," constantly says the line: "I'm a soldier." Remember, I call the playlist "Bid Wars." During this time I am pretending that I am a soldier.

"Tusk" is a great song. Every time that I hear it, I am reminded of a time when I was young and saw a Fleetwood Mac concert on PBS during one of their phone-a-thons. Seeing the USC marching band march out during the song was awesome. It has made me want to see the USC band live, perhaps I should go out to USC sometime. This is another song that keeps me pumped throughout the wait.

It is important to realize that the most important thing to remember when in the middle of a Bid War is to stay motivated.

The final song is "Beat It" by Michael Jackson.

Yes, another Michael Jackson song. I promise, I don't listen to him as much as it seems. People who know me well know that most of the music on my Ipod come from soundtracks.

As I am sure you can tell, "Beat It" is the song I listen to when I attempt to "beat" the highest bid. Most importantly, I wait until the last few seconds of the auction before posting my final bid.

First, allow me to apologize for not including this title in my post yesterday. It is a line from "Thriller," and it applies well to today's post.

Yes, as promised, today's article is my explanation of why I have so many Agloco posts.

I know, I said on my first post that this blog was to cover online marketing in general. The current focus is on Agloco, because this will be a great way for anyone to generate money online.

Notice that I said will. Agloco is still in its early stages. At this time, the viewbar, which will monitor your time online, has not been released. According to Agloco, this will be released sometime between now and April 16. A limited number of Viewbars will be released each day starting around that day. After 10 days, every member of Agloco would have been able to download the viewbar to start earning credit. Now you also understand the deadline for the Facebook picture.

I feel that it will be good to explain more concerning how Agloco will work. Agloco will collect money through various sponsors, such as Google and Amazon, who will pay a person for referring them to their sites. The money collected will then be divided upon the members of Agloco according to the amount of time that person spent online.

There is a small catch. Agloco limits the amount of time that it will credit a person to five(5) hours a month. A person, however, will receive partial credit for a person that he or she referred to Agloco.

So, yes, I would receive partial credit for each hour that you spend online, if you register using one of my links. You can also benefit by promoting Agloco to others.

I have written so much to accommodate for what I feel to be a rush. I am ready to begin the day that the viewbar is released, and I want you to be as well.

Now, you may be asking yourself how much time do you actually spend online. According to reports from various ISPs, the average person spends over 27 hours online each month. I'm sure you would be able to get your five hours quickly, and then you could disable the viewbar for the rest of the month.

So, why not check it out, and give it a try. You have nothing to lose, and you could gain a little bit of extra cash.

After a few more people sign up, I will start to explain different ways of getting more people involved in your own endeavors, and I will introduce some other online ventures.

"But they say the sky's the limit / And to me thats really true / And my friends you have seen nothin'' / Just wait til I get through . . ." - Yes, a long title, would most likely be shortened. Dream big. (song = "Bad")

"But if you just believe / There's no way we can fall" - Always good to have some encouraging posts. (song = "We are the World")

"You wanna be tough, better do what you can" - Another great line, I'll find a way to use it. (song = "Beat It")

"Beat It" - Yes, I'll admit, this is a song I listen to when making last second bids on ebay. Perhaps I'll write about an auction I win (or lose).

"I'm gonna make a change, / For once in my life" - Discussion of community service involvement? (from "Man in the Mirror")

"Gonna make a difference / Gonna make it right" - Too may uses, likely you will see this title very soon. (Also "Man in the Mirror"

I had mentioned elsewhere that I may write blog entires that follow a theme. It is very likely that I will spend a week, or two, only using lines from Michael Jackson songs as the titles. Feel free to leave your opinions.

A Future Facebook Picture

When I first launched this blog, I posted a note within Facebook. In that note I stated that if enough people became regular readers of this blog, I would post a picture on Facebook.

To some of you, this does not sound like much, but there are reasons behind this. Since the time that I set up my Facebook account, I have refused to upload an actual picture of myself. During the time since then I have received numerous Wall posts telling me to get a picture.

I have thought about what I said in that note, and I have decided to set the conditions for me to get a picture. They are as follows:

If at least twenty (20) people register a FREE Agloco account through one of my links before April 19, 2007, I will post a picture.
If at least thirty (30) people register a FREE Agloco account within that same time frame, I will post a few pictures on this blog and allow readers to vote on which picture I place on Facebook.
If at least forty (40) people register a FREE Agloco account during that same amount of time, I will include a few embarrassing pictures as options to vote on.

I realize that I had originally stated that I would post a picture if I received regular readers on this blog. I have since realized that this is impractical. It is extremely hard for me to know which of my returning visitors originally came from Facebook, and I need a practical way to get people involved with my blog. Please post a comment when you register, and encourage others to do the same, at least if you want me to post a picture.

Also, I know that recently I have focused primarily on Agloco. I promise that I will fully explain the reasoning for this focus on Friday. I also promise to have other posts that do not have this same focus.

It Just Isn't Fair

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but every time you browse the internet, someone is making money off of you.

Sure, it's obvious that your ISP has made money, you paid them, or perhaps your employer if you are browsing at work. They, however, are not the ones making all the money. No, it is the people who own the websites you browse daily. Primarily the search engines.

Yes, I'll admit it, I do make a little money from people viewing my blog, but so far, it is not enough to break even. Search engines, on the other hand, make millions. How else was Google able to buy Youtube for $1.65 BILLION in stock?

Now, it is our turn to make some of this money. A new organization is trying to help you earn some of that money.

Agloco allows members to browse the internet just as they always do. It tracks how long you spend online, and then it pays you. The concept is simple, each member of the Agloco community will click on various links and perform searches that will generate revenue for Agloco. Agloco will then distribute 90% of the profit to its members based upon each person's time online.

Yes, it does result in a small viewbar on your screen, but this bar will not impose in any way. It will have a search bar. Each search you perform will generate some of this revenue. How many searches do you make in a day, a month?

It Starts

Today, April 5, I create my first blog entry. As the first entry, I feel now is the best time to explain the purpose of this blog. I have spent over a year dabbling in various online marketing methods. I feel that now, it is time for me to share my experiences.

Every day, I learn of new opportunities online. I have asked myself many times, why not share this information with others? My answer was, I should. The next question was "how?" This is how.

While I can't promise that I will update this blog daily, I can, and do promise, to update multiple times every week. It is my goal to provide you with information about those things which are beneficial to you. As I learn of opportunities, I will post them here. I will also send out emails regularly notifying you of opportunities, if you decide to join my newsletter.

I hope to find many repeat readers, and please, feel free to comment on my posts. If you know of anything that you think I should tell others about, send me an email, and tell me about it. My hope is for this blog to benefit as many people as possible, but I need the help of you.
